Subject: It depends on LOTS of variables

Central Illinois
In your example, yes. IF it isn't thirty percent going in a bin with a 1/10th CFM fan and sitting for two weeks, it might. Several tables out there give length of corn storage life at various moistures and temperatures. We have a 29,000 bushel bin that has a 20 hp fan. (I should put a bigger fan on it) If the corn is around thirty percent, I don't like to put much over 10-12,000 in it an empty at the end of the week. If it is in the lower twenties, and a bit cooler, I just let the system run. When filling the bin for the last time in the fall, I like to start with an empty bin and fill it with anything under twenty and dry it with a fan. In our system, I have an overhead load out bin that everything goes through. If I have over dried some other corn, I can mix some of this corn in the overhead to blend out. It has worked pretty good for 23 years.
