just make sure to get a crate motor when its time to replace it. don't rebuild that casting.


By crate motor do you mean a reman or new? If you are referring to a complete NEW engine (which I don't think is still available for this tractor) or a NEW short block then disregard the following.

What is your reasoning for that????? I would much rather take my chances on my own rebuilds then ANY of the rebuilt stuff out there, and that includes the JD reman's. What do you think you are getting with a reman that you can't/won't get with a quality rebuild of your old engine? Do you think the rebuilders only, use low hour cores? In fact, I think the odds are the opposite is true.......a large percentage of the engines that get exchanged are hi houred with major failures. The ONLY reason I could see for a reman is if the shop you use has no one qualified to do an engine rebuild and then I would find a different shop.
