In our area, a 7.5" spacing like to pick up rocks and wedge them between the blades.
Funkster
We get rocks stuck in our 496 with 9" spacing. We keep a big sledge hammer and a wrecking bar in the tractor at all times for this reason. We would get rocks stuck in the 11" spaced Kewanee offset disk. The big round hard heads were the worst but the limestone gets stuck just as bad.
The 9" will cut better in heavier soil and corn stalks. The 7" would not be a good first tillage tool in the spring or the fall with the harder soil. |
