Southern guys will be more help lots of building made with pipe, yes closer together and bracing will help, have seen 16 ft wall built with 2x6 studs, no reason why pipe won't work, sdnotill is your best source here so far, maybe bigger pipe for corners, or two pipe together perpendicular to the wall
