Thinking about trying to find a speaker from out of state come in and speak on a topic related to row crop production.

Who are some speakers you really enjoyed and would be willing to go hear again? and what did they speak on?

I was thinking something along the lines of soil fertility but I am open to suggestions

Heard a professor from a university in wisconsin speak in the summer. He's a soybean "expert". Forget his name but i believe his website has the word "coolbeans" in it. He was an excellent speaker.

I Heard this man speak on several occasions and found his presentation to be very useful. His name is John McGillicuddy. Independent agronomist from Iowa City, Iowa. Here's an example of him speaking...

Jay, I've heard McGillicuddy several times, he's a little too full of himself to suit me, what works in Iowa won't work in KY, different world. He is much better out in the field dissecting a corn plant, this is where he shines.

I can't argue with you there. He is full of himself. I have gained some useful knowledge from his presentation though.

That would be Shawn Connelly. He is pretty good.

I would suggest Paul Reed if you want to have a no-till guy talk.

The Univ of IL guys have done a lot of those replicated trials on fungicide and insecticide applications also. A name doesn't come to mind. go to farm.doc.

You ought to get John Haggard on fertilizing crops. I might be able to hook you up.

Palle is no longer with Iowa State; I believe he is now with Syngenta.

I think the average farmer would learn more from Paul Reed than anyone mentioned. He's a real farmer but he is real busy, too.

Some of the guys mentioned are good but expensive, so your budget comes into play. I have learned from several mentioned but I consider Paul a mentor.

Thanks guys I will check in to several of these and just see what their rates and availability are. We have pretty good attendance to most of our meetings but there comes a point where everyone gets tired of hearing the same specialists every year and need someone to change it up a bit.
