Subject: RE: Geringhoff Northstar Corn Heads

Lancaster County, Pa.

I ran a 6 row NS this year, this was my first year with it.  My previous head was a 1063.  I love the NS.  Looks to me like it's going to be a solid, trouble free head.  I have a 6 row on a 5088 so I'm running 5.5-6.5 mph all the time.  Once in a while I'll run 8 or so just for fun and it just sucks corn down thru. I was not in enough down corn this year to comment on how it does in down corn.  I would say I saw very little butt shelling. A mechanic from my dealership said they have been changing the "crown gear" (not sure which gearbox) to slow the heads down a little on the wide heads where guys aren't running as fast to help reduce butt shelling, so it must be an issue.
