SE IL and SW IN | I assume that the pic was taken from the field in the above pic 873. We have put enough traffic across the field evaluating it, that we have noticed a compacted layer in old wheel tracks from our probe gathering activities. We do not notice that squiggle with ARG, but that is what I would expect from a radish rooting through a compacted layer. Since that is the only one like that, I would assume that this was an anomaly, and not the norm. I think I will do some digging this week to be sure.
If this is widespread, we might give this field a rest from plot and evaluation work. I have a plan for some "cover crop on steroids" that we might need to try here.
