Nwmo | directv has the genie or hmc, which I think is better than the hopper. Plus directv has amc which is one of the channels I won't do without. Walking dead and Breaking Bad are the highest rated tv shows on cable right and are getting higher ratings than most of the network shows.
I switched from local cable to directv a year ago and I would never go back. Dish was more money for less programing and they don't have nearly as good of a receiver system. Plus if you sign up for directv and you know anyone else who also has it, put them in as a referral and you both get 100 bucks off your bill or $10/month for 10 months.
