Central North Carolina | The LT policy is for LT care. A hospital procedure and a short recovery in a nursing facility is not long-term care. It is short term rehab.
If a LT policy did not have some carve outs the premiums would be astronomical. Seniors fall and have fractures, need replacement knees etc. and medicare generally pays for most of that needed rehab.
A spend down is Medicaid speak for deductible. What you pay before medicaid starts, and it is based on income and assets. You spend down your assets (pay the monthly fee)then you qualify for Medicaid. I was a former CFO for a nursing facility so ask away.
