Central Nebraska | Thanks for the replies so far.
We have Trimble dealers in the area, and also an Ag Express nearby that carries a lot of stuff and expertise. I kind of wanted some opinions on stuff you guys like as far as features and ease of use go.
A good friend of mine is the head GPS guy at a nearby Deere dealer, and my 8320 already has all of the autosteer wiring and a steering valve in it, so I'm also having him put a quote together for me to see what it would cost to get me into RTK with used components.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do... I'd rather not finance autosteer for my tractor, and the lightbar would work for what I need now, but I wonder if I'd be better off to go whole hog. A lot of the ground I farm came from Grandpa, and since we were both 8r36", I just reused his ridges instead of disking and starting over. Lots of crooked rows. On a farm I demoed RTK on last year, I picked up 4 rows. I'm wondering how many rows I would pick up on the 300 other acres I farm going to autosteer.
Sorry about the rambling. Just trying to figure out what is best for my operation at this time. | |
