I wish I were your age again. I grew up in the 70's and started farming in 1979. Yes the 80's were bad. We could go to a farm auction on every day of the week but Sunday for about two years straight. Lots of neighbors went by the wayside. I made it thru but was upside down for awhile. Then there was real opportunity and I bought land in the early nineties. Has worked well for me as you can imagine. Part luck but part taking opportunties when afforded. Good luck and thanks for the replys.
