not true at all. most renters around me rape the soil. so if i rent it out for 5 years what will i have left? dirt that wont grow anything. I also need the ground for manure application.
Pretty simple. Run an ad asking for sealed bids for cash rents with the stipulation that present nutrient levels must be maintained and that any drop in soil test phosphorus etc is paid by the renter at the end of the lease. Shouldn't be an issue with your manure app. Plus you offer manure value included in the bid. Add various tillage restrictions to prevent soil loss.
You can then reject all bids and continue to farm it yourself. At least you will know then if you are doing the correct thing by farming it yourself. To ignore land costs is a steep mistake. |
