A couple years back I had a conversation with a good neighbor that milks cows. He looked back at all the money he has spent to buy equipment for the dairy operation and what it is worth now versus if he had spent that same money on land. The guys that just did row crop (no livestock) had to buy more land to make a decent living over the years, but their investment was worth so much more now that it wasn't funny.
