Subject: RE: hot water heat in house floor

SE South Dakota
Not an expert at all but my parents are just finishing an addition to their home and the concrete basement has in floor heat and the main level has in floor heat as well. I did not see the install at all but the main floor would have to have tubes in between each floor joist.

Not winter here yet but my Dad said right away that if anyone was to build a whole new house he feels that this would be the way to go. He used an electric boiler also the rest of the existing house is heated with baseboard electric heat. His a/c is run thru the attic on the existing house but some type of wall unit in the addition. I have to check this out yet but this is what they went with for the a/c in the new area.

Heat rises why not get the source in the lowest area in the home. If you are going to be "living" in the basement, infloor heat would be the way to go imho. I don't think you would need the forced air propane.

Talk to heating salemen in your area as to find a home with this install. Talk to the owners to get a feel of how it would be for your climate.
