Wife has severe back pain and had surgery once. Her family has a genetic propensity for back problems. She had steroid shots under a X-Ray machine, first time relieved but second time worked. She still has problems when she over does things such as lifting or walking to fast or far. Depending on your age and the extent of the problem you might want to see a neurosurgeon. But I'd ask around a lot before choosing one. Some are very conservative in their approach and are reluctant to do surgery while others are ready to get a knife out in the office. (IMO) Downside of back problems is you can have permanent nerve damage if you don't do something. Personally I'd avoid a chiropractor, I would fear pushing on your back with a spinal cord already pinched could result in a stroke or other damage. |
