how is milo to raise than corn other than seed cost... most every thing is is pretty close to the same and grass weed control in milo sucks...

Here we can get by with a little less fertilizer, especially on the N. Maybe cut back 10-20% over what you'd put on corn. Not a huge savings but some none the less. Milo seems to make the most of whatever is there and,,,,, is more drought tolerant than corn. But,,,,, the best thing is no aflatoxin to worry about. That's a big deal here lots of the time.

I have to agree with you on the grass/weed control issues. Best way I found is to put a hot shot of Valor in early Jan. then plant into a stale seedbed in early March. Use generic Lasso or Dual behind planter. Between the Valor that is left and the Lasso/Dual we get decent grass control. Save our atrazine for post applications, adding Peak or Permit if real weedy. Normally run the no-till cultivator through the milo once. Some here have started using hoods and paraquat instead of iron.
