West Central Alberta Coldest, wettest edge | Does anyone know how land ownership, and expropriation work in Brazil? Can that be a road block to public infrastructure? Or can they take whatever they want with little or no compensation? Are the proposed, and current rr's public or private, or all Chinese? I would assume that acquiring the right of way would be much easier in Brazil than it is here, but could be wrong. As an example, the city of Calgary has been negotiating to build a ring road for decades, part of it is now built much belated, and far over budget, but part would need to go through an Indian reserve.... the word extortion comes to mind. I can only imagine how long it would take to acquire a right of way for a substantial railway in this day and age.
