I really like the 2208. Most of that is probably due to worn out, fix often 800 stuff vs newer, do not fix yet 2208 stuff. The adjustable stripper plates were a HUGE benefit this year! We knew what we were getting with the 2200 knive rolls vs. the 800 series so accepted that without a problem. Big difference in how hard the head pulls. Now it is more like beans. I notice when it is tough out - morning and after the dew starts setting in. Takes more power. I had to tighten up the feeder drive slip clutch. Plugged head a few times (feeder slip clutch) when I was not used to them and how the conditions dictated things. I was used to running any speed I wanted - up to full stick if desired. Can't do that now - plus they do a better chopping job if you drive slower. I kept it between 4.5 and 5 with no problems. Gathering chain sprockets are stock. (This is on a 2166) |
