| Combustion temps are hotter, because that is what makes power and efficiency. An EGR engine has cooler combustion temps because your putting exhaust gas back into the intake that has very little or no O2... That isn't the desired affect.... On top of that, an EGR engine needs significantly more cooling than a DEF engine because you have to cool that EGR. So power loss due to increased cooling needs (take a look at the cooling package on an EGR engine vs a DEF engine...). | |
