North Central Illinois | He is using HTA's. So basically, he sold at the board price, probably Dec 2013 and will lock in the basis later. One would think there would be some decent basis opportunity down the road which would allow a person to lock in a positive basis. HTA's aren't a bad way to go sometimes if you don't mind having to wait out the basis. I'm not real anxious to get started, but I do have an offer in for a couple of Dec HTA's at $6.50. Got to start somewhere and $6.50 isn't too bad! With that said, I am still very much concerned about the weather. We have been getting some rain but not nearly enough. There is no subsoil moisture whereas last year at this time, even though we were dry we had a decent amount of subsoil moisture. | |
