Not sure about your area, but Cargill usually hosts a nice all day marketing class for basics. Yes they do try to sell you on some of their programs but you will walk away with a pretty good understanding of basic calls/puts/options/hedges, etc.

I would highly recommend this. Not necessarily a Cargill or ADM marketing class, but watch for classes offered by anybody, free or otherwise. I went to one offered by our local elevator years ago and it helped me tremendously understanding how everything worked together. It was a small group and we could ask all kinds of questions. Really got the ball rolling on me understanding the markets. Our local branch university extension also offers 1 and 2 day seminars about once a year for basic marketing classes. They charge a little, but if a person was wanting to really get a handle on it they should do it.
