I know you said hard-sided, but I have a Cabela's wheeled duffel bag that is about the handiest thing I've ever seen. The bottom layer is like a suitcase and it has a big zippered duffel bag above that with smaller pouches on each end. It will hold an incredible amount of stuff, is easy to roll, and is very rugged.
