Near Richmond, IN | The 80's weren't all the lending institutions fault. If you wanted to borrow money you had to sign that you would pay it back. My word has always been good and I intend to keep it that way. Because of that, I've probably lost out on getting bigger like some farmers but I always paid back what I borrowed. Locally there are a few "big" farmers who went through a bankruptcy in the 80's and are now "big". Sometimes paying your bills holds you back some, but at least I know I didn't shaft anyone. I also know that Production Credit, which was before Farm Credit, did pull credit from some farmers, probably for no reason, so there might be some amount of truth to blaming the lenders. | |
