Protein tubs are the most expensive source of protein you can buy on a $$$/# of protein basis. Protein tubs are convenient and easy to use and priced accordingly. Probably the cheapest source of protein would be wet distillers but that doesn't work unless you're feeding hundreds of head. If you're already feeding them grain just mix in some commercial beef supplement pellets. These are usually 34-40% protein and have vitamins and minerals and mix easily. You can regulate consumption, everybody will get some, and be somewhat cheaper than tubs.


+1 on the pellets. I like to use AS700 this time of year when the weather around here can go from freezing in the morning to 70 by the afternoon, and back to the 30's by dark. Also set out a TM salt block for them.
