Treating an animal with antibiotics with no idea as to what you may or may not be treating is irresponsible whether you like to hear it or not. I highly doubt your vet would advise to give a single dose of tetracycline without a thorough physical resulting in finding an infection of some type. Giving it as you did would indicate you don't understand its practical use.
Does this sound cheap?
