Have to mess w your "fine line" scenario. Jeez why let em get down to real poor shape then decide on turning em around or if they're so far gone it's not worth messing with. Granted your feed is cheap due to milc formula which subsidizes dairy feed costs. 15 cwt live diff and 2 to 300 pound weigh advantage to a mid yield cull vs a shell. That's $300 to $450 per head more.
Does this sound cheap?
