I live in my grandparent's old house.  They moved here in 1938 from Kansas with 4 little boys.  My Dad drew the short straw and had to stay on the farm.  They were milking cows at the time.  They sold off the dairy cows in 1973. My uncle had bought the place right next door and sold it at the same time.  He wouldn't sell it to my Dad.  I bought that place in 2001.  My Dad passed away 5 years ago this December.  My brother and I joke I inherited my ranch while he married his.  I will stay here till my Mom passes.  California is a tough place to be in business. So who knows what will happen.  I always tell my wife this place is bigger than both of us.  My family all tends to congragrate here at different times of the year. My daughter is the fourth generation here so I would imagine I will stay here till she has me hauled away.  I moved twice in my life once to my rental house and here, maybe a 100 yards total.  I am lucky to live how I have for so long and have a wife that is realizing it is a lifestyle.
