Chilliwack BC
Great grandparents moved from France and originally settled in Duck Lake Saskatchewan. The winters must have got to them because after about 15 years, they moved and bought a dairy farm 4 miles from where we are now. My grandfather was the only one of his siblings that wanted to farm but he was the youngest of 16. Great grandfather passed away and his wife sold the farm and bought a lot in town. Grandpa milked a handful of cows on his mothers lot in town. He sold the cows to join the army. Came back from the war, got married and drove milk truck for a few years picking up cans. He bought the place we're at now in 1952 and dairy farmed. Both of dads older brothers bought dairies within a couple miles of here and dad bought the home farm. My brother and I are taking it over from our parents. I live in a subdivision a half mile from the farm I grew up on.

Will I still be farming here in 30+ years? I don't know. Land can't be touched for $40,000 an acre and expansion is difficult. This place does have a lot of advantages though.
