Alentejo, Portugal
We have fed fresh chopped silage to our cows in the past as well. We used to buy all our silage at our previous farm. When the bunker was already full, another truck or two showed up. So we covered the bunker until the end of the walls end fed the rest straight away in a day or 3 and then covered the rest. But i don“t think of it as a great succes...
Feeding green chop right out of the field ok, lots of people do that when they are short on feed, with a small pull type chopper and a wagon you can chop every day a fresh bit and feed it.

But buying a load and try to feed it for as long as you can? And after that, go back to just straw??
