Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND
I live in central North Dakota. Born here, never saw any reason to leave the best place on earth ;-)

My grandfathers enployer, Mr Zerbel in Iowa, bought cheap railroad land in ND as an investment. He sent his 18 year old hired man and his 18 year old wife,(My grandparents) in 1906 to build a farm and convert the prairie into farm land. They rented the land until 1948 when they bought the land from his Mr Zerbel. My grandparents Raised 8 children, buried two before 1910 who died as small children. Grandfather retired in 1957 and sold the farm.
My mother was one of their surviving children. I still live 2 miles from my grandparents farm.
My parents bought our farm in 1941 from Edward Boone, a fellow who made his way from the Carolina's, to Iowa, to North Dakota, following the lure of very cheap homestead land. He was a few generationd down from his ancestor, Pioneer, Danial Boone. We still have the original homestead deed to him signed by President Teddy Roosevelt.
