My grandparents fled Germany for political & ecconomic reasons - one fled Switzerland never quite got the story on that one - and this area is a real hub of Germans that settled out of a Chigago institution.

I'm 3rd generation on the farm, was bought a couple years after MN became a state. First settler didn't make it.

I got to chuckle when some folks say how farms 'handed down' the family are sliver spoons, got it handed to them. Walk a mile in their shoes.... I know many can relate to my comments. Not worth arguing it with those that haven't been there.
