North End I-15		Homesteaders determined this was the place in 1910 . Left Iowa for Montana , My maternal grandfather tried to raise field corn here till the day he retired and moved to the Flathead valley , Corn grows there .
Faternal Grandfather left Minnesota for Montana at same time . He never tried raising corn . Dried off in 1918 and went back to Minnesota with family in tow . My dad was 7 at the time and was born here in Montana on the homestead , He hated the woods of Minnesota , liked the wide open spaces . Came back when he was 18 to work for his dads batchelor brother . Married a girl next door as it was with in walking distance .(Plus he got a milk cow and calf for dowery) In 1969 we had a chance to rent the Maternal Grandfathers place from an Uncle (mothers brother ) and so we gave up the easy life of school teaching at age 29 . Invested our meager savings in "a nothing ventured , nothing gained " sort of gamble . Was too broke to leave so just did what the old timers did , milked a cow , slopped a few hogs , got some cows on shares , raised a large garden , lived with in (some times out of ) our means and eventually prospered .
