Out of one side of their mouths they (the government) are saying that we need to provide lunches "because for some kids it's the only real meal they get all day". (This is true by the way - I'm glad to spend some of my tax dollars for those kids who really are hungry.) But now, out of the other side of their mouths they are saying that kids are too fat and that they should only get 700-800 calories and no more than 1-2 ounces of meat in a meal - not even close to enough for a physically active teenager. It's just one more case of the idiocy that occurs the further you move away from local control toward federal control of everything.
