brad c - 9/28/2012 08:48 Planning for drought in Iowa a valid concern over the long haul?

Lets hope not.

We do have a few select pieces of sandy ground that we farm with limited water in mind but in general I don't think trying to anticipate a drought is a good idea.

BTW, were on 20" rows.    We spray with a tractor/pull type, 16.9 tires on the tractor, very minimal damage.   We did some cultivating this year with the same tractor.    If we wanted to side dress I don't think it would be that big of a deal other than finding the time to get it done.

We had 20" corn go down on us last year, but so did every other row width in this area.

The only reason I'd consider ever going back to 30" rows is to do strip till CoC.
