Moose don't tramp crops really. They bed down. Elk, now they tramp crops, because they are in herds, and they eat the grain, whereas moose simply nip here and there and lay down and walk through, no big deal. Elk can wreck many acres in a night if you have a herd of 20 move through. And bears? They love to eat wheat, and especially oats. And they roll in the crop big time. They tramp it down this way. I have seen where they roll in the oats to knock it down so they can be lazy and lay down while they graze. I saw 4 moose in my wheat today, and 12 elk in my canola tonight. I prefer the moose. they damage far less than the elk...
