Subject: RE: bookkeeping question

Iowa
I've used and looked at different accounnting software programs, but like to use a general ledger spreadsheet for my purposes. It's updated monthly or often as needed and closed out for financial statements annually. Companion spreadsheets are used for cash flow and enterprise analysis. My CPA is pleased with the detail reports for tax purposes. The financial statements balance with each other and make sense when finished. I usually have a beer when all is said and done. It works for me, but I don't have a lot of employee related issues to keep track of.

Regardless of the system being used, I believe it is important to have a good understanding of accounting principles. The quality of the reports generated is influenced by the data entered.
