Thanks. I did a Google search. The bags marked "forage radish" they sell me def are not 7 top. Maybe something to look into as it is for grazing.


Cows will eat radish and do fine with them....may take a week or two if they haven't eaten them before. When they do expect nippage at soil level. Turnips are ocassionally planted for grazing here and extension is pursuing the program. I worry about the chance of a cow choking on a turnip bulb of the right size....so I tend to stick with just tillage radish in a winter pasture mix. Don't lock cattle down on solid brassica and things will be fine....hemolytic anemia is a concern on straight brassics...not a problem with small grains in the mix or with a hay bale offered.

Turnip seed is tiny and heavy. A couple pounds go a long way. Each year I seem to 'relearn' this lesson. We will 'bulk-up' turnip seed with mirco prill gypsum in the small box next summer and see how that works.
