I think your dealer gave you bum dope. You should close the conclaves. The rotor needs to grip the MOG so that it can stop roping the stalks and auger them out the back.
That said a specialty or AFX rotor will do a better job in green stuff. Get someone who has been operating Axial Flows for 30 years or so to give you some tips.
