West Tennessee
I'm sure it's a "here" thing for the most part. There are a few corn growers who side dress with liquid. Most of them own the rigs because they use the liquid on cotton but most of the cotton growers broadcast Urea. Probably most corn growers here don't have enough acres to justify the cost of rig IMO. On my operation it is definitely hard to find someone who can run that rig while we're busy doing other stuff. I have liked it when we were able to do it but now that no one rents rigs (38" rows here) I just can't justify the purchase of the rig plus the labor to get it done. I feel sure there are a lot of guys in the same boat as me. Call the COOP or whoever and they bring an airflow truck and broadcast the Urea with Agrotain and you're done. Well except for paying the bill (ouch!!), but liquid N is not that much cheaper here. Anhydrous is unheard of to use here. You have to talk to someone probably well into their 70's to even remember a few people using it. Never saw a rig in my lifetime.
