Subject: RE: John Deere S series Combines

Northeast Louisiana
The noise is caused by the bad doors, I'm told there is a PIP to replace them. I put close to 400 hrs on a 680 this fall. I shelled over 41,000 bushels of corn in one day without turning my lights on. I averaged over 180 acres a day for several days in a row in 70 bpa soybeans, in some terribly muddy conditions. I cut 225 bpa rice at 4 mph with a 35' header. In all this I had a total of 2 hrs downtime, and that was probably my fault for not checking the beater belt tensioner. I've been pretty critical of Deere in recent years, but in my opinion they have knocked one out of the park with these combines. Sounds like you've got some problems, but don't give up on it.
BTW, I'm not talking it up just to try to rationalize a purchase, we don't own this machine.
