There are two options, but I don't think either is necessarily cheaper. One is to mount a good sized generator on the truck and run an electric compressor from it. The only time that really makes sense is when you use a lot more electricity than air. If you use impacts, the little electric compressors won't keep up. The other system is to mount a compressor to run off of your truck engine and mount an air tank on the truck bed or under the bed. It takes less room than a mounted compressor, but requires the truck engine to run whenever you need air.
