Subject: The TRUE rate of inflation?

SeniorCitizen and all,

What is the TRUE rate of inflation? As SeniorCitizen said in recent post, the government's inflation numbers leave much to be desired.

Received a notice from Social Security recently telling me they are raising my monthly checks by 2.8% for 2008. Is this the "official" government rate of inflation?

We all need to know the true rate of inflation. Making 4% interest at the bank with a TRUE inflation rate of 5% should have us putting our money elsewhere.

Farm land gaining 10-15% in value annually plus income from crops is--currently--a tough investment to beat. Of course, how long is this bubble good for?

Ethanol and biodiesel -- plus by-products -- may make farm land a good investment for several more years. I believe more and more people are coming to believe this.

Don
