Let the heat come this week with the big winds and start looking at your unecessary shrink , butt shelling , ears on the ground, down corn etc. Take 5 bushel for example. 1000 acres corn x 40 bucks (5 bushelx $8per acre). Equals 40K and it could get a lot worse then that. Everyone up here left 70-160 dollars per acre on the table due to harvest losses last year and their ready to do it again. Drying cost on farm is running about a 6.5cent per bushel for propane expense part of it. So on a 200 bushle yield for easy figuring thats only $13 per acre to get it in the bin. With the acre of corn worth 1600/acre. And i thought i was a gambler.
