Southeast Florida | First thing is you'll think you've died and went to heaven comparing a 8630 to any of the 9XXX series C-IH tractors!
When I lived in S FL I managed a company that had 200+ of the small frame (9x10 or 9X30) pulling sugar cane harvest wagons, tillage and other choir work. We had 3, 9X50 and 20+- (9X70 and 9X80) and 10 STX pulling pans and heavy tillage along with various Deere 4wd's too
First thing is the transmission will last forever if taken care of, we had some pulling wagons and scrappers approaching 15,000 hours when I left. The secret to this is forget the HyTran and go to SAE 30 TO4 grade Power Transmission Oil like CAT and Allison uses and fill the transmission to the full mark with engine running 1,000 rpm's to prevent cavitation in the transmission lubrication system especially when coming up a headland or hill. The pickup tube is in the front of the transmission and lube pressure will fluctuate when coming up hill thus causing loss of lube pressure and loss of lubrication and you know the rest of the story.
Last thing I'd advise you of is unless you heart is just set on a 9X50 buy a 9x30 or large frame (9X70, 80 or 90). I can go into detail later about differences in transmission and why not the 9X50 mainly because of poor service from the L-10 and carry over to M-11.
PS the transmission information about the Fuji-Tek is the same on the Twin Disc too, the Fuji is just a Japaneses copy of the the Twin Disc with improvements most parts will inner change. Twin Disc users: Deere 60, 70, 9X00, and Versatile, | |
