man that thing is really overbuilt, i guess you should never break anything. 3/8"x 3" steel( would have to measure) on end with angle iron gussets on ends and center have worked here for 15-17 years with semis. my ram-rods come in at 10 mph and drive over it with semis. mine is in two pieces to be able to handle it easier
