There is relative 'consensus' on hanging drinkers using more than cups, but before ddg/dog food/bakers byproduct the pits didn't fill up even with drinkers that disintegrated and became sprinkers over night (had a room full of galvanized - not a good idea btw).

Other factors can also be feed line breaks resulting in feed dumped into the pit directly. When we first started the integrator said it would happen some day and I thought it wouldn't be possible. However, it's amazing what will either be broken by pigs or just decide to break on it's own. With stirring (with lots of air moving) a lot of solids can be pumped out, but it will raise the pit level for that year.
