Subject: Re: feeder cattle receiving procedure

Vauxhall, Alberta
We custom backgroud calves, usually 2500-3500 starting at 300-400 lbs, we feed alfalfa hay about 5 lbs per head then we put our grower ration on top of the hay in the feed bunk,About 10 lbs per head. Our grower ration is 32% ealage(cobmeal),58% corn silage,6% canola pelets,4% supplement with as700 mixed in(these are asfed percentages). we feed the hay like that for a week then go down a pound a day. We try to wait 3-4 days after the calves come in to process them. Processing includes 7-way or 8-way pyrimid 4, ivomec, implant, brand and biomicen. then if one needs to be pulled we use micotil the first time and nuflor the second time. After that if they are still not well use borgal for a five day treatment.
