You can make a flex auger any length you want (within reason and drive capability) and make it go basically anywhere you want.
That said, if you do not need a flex auger I wouldn't use one to fill buckets or to put protein in a mixer. A 3" flex auger is painfully slow if you're standing there waiting for it.
3" flex will move somewhere around 50 lbs/minute. A 4" straight auger will be around 150-200 lbs/min.
If you still want to use the flex auger just put a short piece of straight pipe on the boot and attach the drive head.
