Subject: RE: Grazing Cover Crops

northwest tennessee
I have sowed rye grass before and grazed but what has really gotten my attention this year is I have a corn field that I rent out for row crop and I have grazed the stalks this year but 2 years ago the guy that farms it sowed crimson clover and in the clover seed was what I call wild mustard. The cows have gone crazy over the stuff and I keep pulling off and letting it come back and then going back to it. I have always wanted to sow some forage turnips so tell me more about it. This mustard just keeps coming back and pretty strong. How many pounds per acre do you sow of the turnips and how did you prepare the ground? Is the seed high? When did you sow it?I was thinking of sowing it with crimson clover and maybe ryegrass too. Have like a salad bowl. haha
