Corydon, IA | boog - 8/13/2012 23:43 I was told by a long time IH mechanic to put it in "HI" range. He said that holds the reverse fork straight where as in another range or neutral allows it to move
Im not sure what he is thinking on that. Ive done several over the years and never worried about it. The hi lo parts arent even connected to the reverse parts. If its in hi or lo or nuetral the reverse fork will still be in nuetral. You have to put it in reverse to move the reverse fork. So I dont think it matters but if its in high when you pull it you just have to make sure its in high when you put it back if you dont move the hi lo fork while its apart. If you replace the rollers on the forks (which I would recommend) theres a good chance you may move the forks doing that anyway. In that case just make sure you put the fork back in hi if you want the cover in high. That stuff isnt really that critical. If you get that cover off you will see how it works. They are real simple. |
